Dear Physician Colleague:
Greetings to you on behalf of the entire staff of Cottage Children's Hospital! And thank you for granting me a few minutes of your time to provide an update regarding the exciting new developments occurring at CCH.
Based on a commitment from our Board of Directors and Administration to provide state-of-the-art care to infants and children in our region, Cottage Children's Hospital has undergone significant changes over the last few years. As you may already know, we are building an entirely new Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, including a comprehensive children's environment placing Acute Pediatrics, Pediatric Intensive Care, Neonatal Intensive Care, and the Well Baby Nursery all within close proximity.
Known for our NICU, PICU, and Acute Pediatric Ward, we continue to expand our scope of subspecialty services. Most recently we welcomed Dr. David Slomiany, an accomplished pediatric hematologist-oncologist partnering with Dr. Dan Greenfield to care for our youngest patients with cancer and blood disorders. In addition, in January CCH welcomed a new pediatric endocrinologist, Dr. Cristina Candido-Vitto.
It is our goal to provide your patients and their families with the highest quality hospital experience possible, both as inpatients and during visits to our outpatient clinics. Please contact CCH at the number provided below to request referral information, and feel free to ask to speak with me directly if you have any questions or concerns.

Kid Power.
Our Work with the Children's Miracle Network
Cottage Children's Hospital has been a proud member of the Children's Miracle Network (CMN) for more than two decades. Children's Miracle Network is an alliance of premier children's hospitals, and the CMN telethon is now the largest television fundraiser of its kind in the world. Every dollar raised locally through the CMN broadcast stays in our area to support vital medical services for children at Cottage Children's Hospital.
Because of the visibility and strong community support generated by the telethon, Cottage Children's Hospital has been able to build an impressive range of pediatric programs and services.
Our commitment to medical excellence and compassionate care is a daily endeavor. But providing life-saving services and state-of-the-art technology is costly. We appreciate the extraordinary commitment from all across the Central Coast and inland regions to help us provide care to every child who needs it.

A Holiday Gift
Andrea knew it was serious when her eight-month-old daughter's temperature soared to 105.4 degrees. With her husband, Manny, in Iraq as a Marine Reservist, Andrea brought their baby Alyssa to the Emergency Room at Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital. Doctors there recognized the graveness of her condition and immediately sent her to the pediatric specialists at Cottage Children's Hospital. Diagnosed with meningitis, which can be fatal if not identified and treated immediately, Alyssa was admitted to the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU). Despite the seriousness of Alyssa's condition, the family was comforted by the skilled and dedicated staff at CCH. Alyssa went home on Christmas Day, her first, for a double celebration.
